Tax Season Readiness

Gather the following information:

  • Personal information for you, your spouse (if applicable), and dependents

  • Income documents such as W-2s and 1099s

  • Proof of credits and deductions such as education statements, mortgage statements, medical receipts (paid), tax payments made

  • Any other tax documents and your prior year tax return

Important Tax Dates:

  • January 15, 2026 – Fourth quarter estimated tax payment for 2025 due (for self-employed or those without withholding). 

  • January 26, 2026 – IRS opens tax season; first day to file 2025 tax returns. 

  • January 31, 2026 – Deadline for employers to send W-2 forms and most 1099 forms.

  • March 15, 2026 - S Corps, LLC, and Partnership tax returns due.

  • April 1, 2026 – Required minimum distribution due for those who turned 73 in 2025. 

  • April 15, 2026 (Tax Day) Deadline to file federal income tax return or request an extension (Form 4868). Deadline to pay any taxes owed for 2025. Last day to make IRA and HSA contributions for 2025. First quarter estimated tax payment for 2026 due. 

  • June 15, 2026 – Second quarter estimated tax payment for 2026 due. 

  • September 15, 2026 – Third quarter estimated tax payment for 2026 due.  Tax return due for extended business filers (LLC, S Corps, and Partnerships)

  • October 15, 2026 – Extended deadline to file 2025 tax return if you requested an extension. (Individuals and C Corps)

Tax Resources:

  • IRS Account: Visit irs.gov to access your tax records

  • IRS Free File is applicable for most taxpayers that earned less than $84,000 last year.  Visit irs.gov to file

  • Tips:

    • Filing early can help you get your tax refund sooner and minimize the chance of identity theft.

    • Requesting a tax extension only gives you extra time to file, it does not give you extra time to pay your taxes.

    • Let an accountant help you with past due tax debt for better tax resolution.
